Orphans only, please.
The OAP has become a very popular event.
Some folks try to convince us that a
Buick woodie or a Ford retractable are orphans because
that body style or car with that feature are not made
anymore. Full-size autos built in the '20s have the same
lineage as those produced today. So, as beautiful and
desirable as these cars may be, they are not orphans. And
as the OAP has grown, we are often filled up by noon and
have to turn genuine orphans away. So, be forewarned, we
are going to be stricter than before about the orphan auto
qualification. If you have a full-size car made by a company
and division that is still in business,
chances are it does not qualify as an orphan.
A discontinued body style or make alone does not make a car an orphan.
As always, if you are doubt about your car's eligibility,
call or email ahead of time for confirmation!
Non-qualified cars will be directed up to
regular spectator parking.

What's an orphan? An Orphan is a car or light truck
whose manufacturer is no longer in business.
Some examples are American Motors, Checker, Crosley, Frazer,
Kaiser, Nash, Packard, Studebaker, Hudson, and Willys.
We also accept discontinued divisions or model lines
even if the manufacturer is still in business as long as
model name is not being currently used. Examples
include Corvair, Edsel, Desoto, Falcon, Valiant, Imperial, Reatta,
Nova, Tempest, and Cimarron.
Imported cars are acceptable if the manufacturer is out
business (Triumph, MG, Sunbeam) or if the brand is no
longer imported to the USA (Fiat, Puegeot, Citroen).
Certain models of other makes are also allowed (air-cooled
VW, Isetta, Jag E-type), but call or email to verify others first.
A vehicle must be at least 10 years old to be considered an orphan.
Directions
As of June of 2008, the interchange at I-88 and Route 31 in Aurora is under construction,
and we cannot promise that all ramps will be open on the day of the picnic.
Therefore, we suggest that you exit I-88 onto Farnsworth heading south.
This exit is near mile marker 119½ on I-88.
Take Farnsworth south to Indian Trail.
Turn right onto Indian Trail and head west to Route 25 (Aurora Avenue).
Turn left onto Route 25 and head south.
You will soon reach the entrance to the Orphan Auto Picnic on your right,
which will be marked on the day of the picnic.
Turn into the driveway, and follow it down the steep hill and across the railroad tracks.
You will be directed toward orphan parking, spectator parking, or overflow parking.
If you prefer to take your chances on Route 31, exit I-88 at Route 31 heading south.
This exit is near mile marker 117 on I-88.
Continue south on Route 31 to Indian Trail.
Turn left onto Indian Trail.
You are now heading east.
Just after crossing the Fox River, turn right onto Route 25 (Aurora Avenue) and head south.
You will soon reach the entrance to the Orphan Auto Picnic on your right,
which will be marked on the day of the picnic.
Turn into the driveway, and follow it down the steep hill and across the railroad tracks.
You will be directed toward orphan parking, spectator parking, or overflow parking.
Please note that there is no interchange at I-88 and Route 25.
Please note that Indian Trail now connects up with North Aurora Road,
which in turn connects up with Ogden Avenue.
If you are coming from Naperville, Lisle, Downers Grove, etc.,
you may want to consider coming this way.
Always obey all traffic laws and posted signs.
